The Tartan Horse

Ahoy Senor is bidding to make history today by becoming the first Scottish-trained horse to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Trained by Lucinda Russell near Kinross, this beautiful horse is one of only 2 to have a tartan named after him.; the other being legendary Red Rum.

Slanj were delighted to get the opportunity to make waistcoats, ties and hip-flasks in the Ahoy Senor tartan with all the proceeds going to the horse racing charity Racing Welfare. If you would like to purchase anything in the tartan, please email to this address.

Ellon-based owners Carron and Bruce Wymer are extremely excited and proud to be in this position.

Bruce said: “He would be the first Scottish-trained Gold Cup winner, which would be quite something, and he goes with a realistic chance.

“There are a lot of good horses in the race as you would expect, but he’s going with a chance of winning – he isn’t going to make up the numbers.”
